Farhan Adam MBE

Crown Hills Community College Congratulates Principal Farhan Adam on Receiving an MBE for Services to Education.

Crown Hills Community College is proud to announce that our Principal, Farhan Adam, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his outstanding services to education.

Farhan has been a transformative leader, not only within our school community but across the broader educational landscape. His tireless dedication to student achievement, staff development, and educational equality has been both inspiring and impactful for more than 25 years.

Farhan’s 25-year teaching career has always been in local Leicester Schools. Having started his teaching career at Piper Way as a teacher of SEND, he moved on to teach PE and became an Advanced Skills Teacher and Assistant Principal at Moat Community College. He was then Deputy Head and Head at the Madani Schools Federation and is now Principal at Crown Hills Community College, where the school has grown from strength to strength.

During his time at Crown Hills Community College the school has:

  • Developed an extensive personal development programme which allows all students to gain a wider understanding of the world and encourages them to believe they can achieve the same as any other child from anywhere in the country.
  • Created an ambitious curriculum which challenges students and provides them with the knowledge they need to succeed in examinations.
  • Grown a sports academy to an elite level so students can compete against fee paying private schools in sports such as fencing.
  • Supported the community it serves by providing weekly free hot meals and creating a warm and safe space in the winter months.
  • Became one of the first ‘Well Schools’ in the country and led the way nationally on the impact of improving educational outcomes by supporting the health and happiness of staff and pupils.
  • Received rewards in recognition of their services to education. Such as Pearson’s Headteacher of the Year Award, Pearson’s Secondary School of the Year Award and TES Staff Wellbeing of the Year Award.
  • Been judged as outstanding for the very first time in January 2025

Reflecting on the honour, Farhan shared: “All that I have ever wanted to do is make a difference to others. The recognition is not the purpose, but is so nice to receive.”

“Educating children is the noblest of professions and one where the profits are smiles, happiness, improved life chances, a better future and joy.” Farhan continues.

“I am grateful to so many people. To my family, to my parents that supported my choice of career, my teachers for making school such a joy that made me want to pass it on to others, and to my colleagues that I have worked with since I started teaching over 25 years ago; I have learnt something from every one of you and continue to do so.”

“The journey continues and never stops,” he said. “I will continue to work as hard, if not harder, to improve the lives of others through the work that I do. I hope that this recognition provides others with the confidence to keep going and that your starting point in life should not determine your future.”
