Student Leadership

At Crown Hills, we believe our students have the potential to be the world's next generation of impactful leaders. This conviction fuels our commitment to fostering leadership not just within the classroom, but throughout their entire school experience. We go beyond the curriculum by providing a rich tapestry of student leadership opportunities.  By engaging in leadership our students are able to develop the practical skills they need to thrive, not just in academics, but in all aspects of life.

We focus on fostering essential personal qualities like strong communication, effective teamwork, creative problem-solving, and confident decision-making. These skills are not only crucial for academic success but also translate into valuable assets for navigating future careers and personal endeavours. By honing these abilities, students gain self-assurance and adaptability needed to become the best that they can be, both within the supportive environment of Crown Hills and beyond.

SSAT

At Crown Hills all students have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised accreditation in leadership- the SSAT Student Leadership Accreditation. Students work towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold independently, with support in tutor time. They work towards this through Crown Hills' BRETTOW Program. Students who undertake leadership as an extra-curricular have the opportunity to pursue their SSAT accreditation through a BRETTOW leadership pathway which is specialised for their area of leadership. The SSAT award provides valuable evidence of students’ holistic achievements when applying for colleges, universities or jobs. This allows our students to demonstrate not only their academic personal development but also their development as individual, well-rounded members of society.

What do our Student Leaders say about Leadership?

‘Sports Leadership has helped me build confidence and I enjoy helping younger children learn and develop in sport’

‘Doing leadership improved my skills and qualities such as confidence, honesty and problem solving’

‘By participating in the Student Council, I have developed personally with my fairness and equality. It has also allowed me to connect with others, people who I may not have spoken to before’

Whole School Council & Form Reps

The Whole School Council (WSC) helps make sure students can share their views about life at CHCC.

Each year group chooses one WSC representative. This happens through a vote, similar to a general election. Students vote for the person they think will do the best job. The candidate with the most votes wins. This takes place every year, and many students take part.

Each form also chooses one form representative. There are 55 form reps in total across the school. Their job is to collect ideas from their form and share them in meetings.

WSC representatives attend these meetings and make sure all ideas are listened to and discussed. If an idea needs more support, it is passed on to the Senior Leadership Team. They help decide if the idea can be put into action.

Students understand that not every idea will be used. However, by sharing and discussing ideas, students can help make the school a better place.
