Student Leadership
At Crown Hills, we believe our students have the potential to be the world's next generation of impactful leaders. This conviction fuels our commitment to fostering leadership not just within the classroom, but throughout their entire school experience. We go beyond the curriculum by providing a rich tapestry of student leadership opportunities. By engaging in leadership our students are able to develop the practical skills they need to thrive, not just in academics, but in all aspects of life.

We focus on fostering essential personal qualities like strong communication, effective teamwork, creative problem-solving, and confident decision-making. These skills are not only crucial for academic success but also translate into valuable assets for navigating future careers and personal endeavours. By honing these abilities, students gain self-assurance and adaptability needed to become the best that they can be, both within the supportive environment of Crown Hills and beyond.
SSAT
At Crown Hills all students have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised accreditation in leadership- the SSAT Student Leadership Accreditation. Students work towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold independently, with support in tutor time. They work towards this through Crown Hills' BRETTOW Program. Students who undertake leadership as an extra-curricular have the opportunity to pursue their SSAT accreditation through a BRETTOW leadership pathway which is specialised for their area of leadership. The SSAT award provides valuable evidence of students’ holistic achievements when applying for colleges, universities or jobs. This allows our students to demonstrate not only their academic personal development but also their development as individual, well-rounded members of society.

What do our Student Leaders say about Leadership?
‘Sports Leadership has helped me build confidence and I enjoy helping younger children learn and develop in sport’
‘Doing leadership improved my skills and qualities such as confidence, honesty and problem solving’
‘By participating in the Student Council, I have developed personally with my fairness and equality. It has also allowed me to connect with others, people who I may not have spoken to before’
Whole School Council & Form Reps
Whole School Council (WSC) work to ensure that students have a positive say about their school life and experience at CHCC.
Every year group elects one WSC representative, through a similar system of General Elections. We use First Past the System to choose our WSC Reps, where like MPs need to persuade citizens to vote for them, so do our prospective WSC candidates. This happens yearly and lots of students turn out to exercise their democratic right to vote!
Just as WSC Reps are elected, so too are our form reps. We have one form rep per, so 55 total across the school. They have an incredibly important responsibility of collating their forms ideas and sharing their ideas gained from form rep meetings with WSC.
WSC reps once chose to have a big responsibility of attending form reps meetings and ensuring all ideas are heard and responded to. Ideas that require more thought are taken to the Senior Leadership so they can give consideration and help support students to make positive change.
Student recognise not every idea will happen, but using our skills of debating and advocacy allows students to represent their best interests across the school.
