Internationalism

We want students to look at the world around us and demonstrate a positive outlook on migration and travel; develop trust, tolerance and respect for other cultures and traditions; to be aware of global issues such as poverty, hunger, inequality and climate change, and to understand their roles in promoting change. We want students to be able to think critically and independently regarding international issues in the news and on social media, as well as being able to form their own opinions on such issues. We want to build mutually beneficial relationships with our partnership schools abroad and share their cultures and traditions with each other, thus increasing awareness of internationalism across the school for all staff and students.

Internationalism is at the heart of school life, as we strive to nurture globally-minded young people who appreciate and respect the diversity of people and cultures worldwide.

With the introduction of the SSAT-accredited BRETTOW award (acronym for 'Be Ready To Take On the World’), we celebrate global learning and recognise students who demonstrate respect, understanding, and curiosity about the world and its diverse cultures.

Cultural Events & Celebrations

Celebratory Meals

All students in Years 7–10 are invited to take part in our celebratory meals, where they can sit down together and experience the traditions of different faiths and cultures. Throughout the year, students will mark occasions such as Eid, Christmas, Diwali and Vaisakhi, enjoying food and customs linked to each celebration. For some, this may be their first opportunity to experience traditions such as pulling a Christmas cracker or sharing festive dishes from other cultures. These events are designed to promote understanding, respect and curiosity, helping students to appreciate the diverse community we are part of.
